Episode 01: "What Do You Do When You CHUNK Your Talk"

Welcome to the Thursday Morning Debrief with Ben and Ryan.

In Episode 01, Ben and I talk about a serious topic that every youth worker, pastor, and professional public speaker faces at one time or another: "What do you do when you CHUNK your talk." Not stumble over some words, not slip on a phrase, not even forget a point. We both discuss huge failures of chunked talks and how to overcome the shame and embarrassment.

This is a podcast where we seek to leverage our friendship to maintain a soft heart towards Jesus and towards our ministry.

Here are 4 questions to consider as your evaluate your talk from the night before, and ways to improve, especially if you happen to have CHUNKED it.

  • How do you prepare for your talk?
    • Hook, Book, Look, Took
    • Me, We, God, You We
  • What role does your talk play in your ministry?
  • Does your talk even matter?
  • Why everything hangs on it?

This weeks musical selection, The Edge of the Earth, by Switchfoot was chosen by Ryan.  (Can't wait to hear what sort of GenX music that is full of pain and bitterness that Ben will bring next week)

Our closing Blessing for the faithful, maturing youth worker:

May you fellow youth worker called by the Holy Spirit to proclaim God's word, may you be a servant to your students as you walk alongside them to help them know and love Jesus with all of their heart, mind, soul, and strength. Amen.
